Thanksgiving Stuffing Drive
2021 marks the fifth year Basch and Keegan is collaborating with The Ulster County People’s Place provide an essential part of the Thanksgiving meal to families in need.
Most food drives do not accept perishable foods which would include the butter needed to make stuffing, so many people will not donate stuffing or butter. So, we struck a deal with the community: for every box of stuffing donated, we pledged to donate the butter.
The very first year, we collected around 500 boxes of stuffing and donated 525 sticks of butter!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is premises liability?Premises liability is the area of law surrounding personal injury on someone else's property. It occurs when a property owner, manager or landlord has caused harm to someone on their property due to negligence. The most common premises liability claims include: Slip and fall hazards - This is the most common type of premises liability. It occurs when the property owner/manager fails to properly maintain expected areas of foot traffic. Unrestrained dogs - The owner of a dog can be held liable if the dog injures someone due to lack of training, being off-leash, or not being contained by a fence. Poor security - Property owners/managers are responsible for taking steps to prevent robbery, vandalism, and break-ins. Lack of Maintenance- Building elements should be properly maintained for tenant and visitor safety.
-
Should I get a slip and fall lawyer?A lawyer can help you get the highest compensation for your slip and fall accident. But to win a case in New York, the following must be true: The property owner/manager was negligent, and it resulted in your accident. And you received medical bills from the event, lost earning capacity, lost wages, or you experienced pain/suffering. New York’s law allows for partial blame to fall on the plaintiff. Therefore, before going into litigation, you should know that your actions will also be assessed, and you will have been expected to have demonstrated a reasonable level of care, such as paying attention to “Do Not Enter” signage. Without a lawyer, it can be difficult to predict claims from the defendant on such topics.

What should I do if I was hit by a car as a pedestrian? In New York, you should call the police immediately after you are hit by a car as a pedestrian in order to have a legal case. It must be done within 24 hours of the accident, or else you will not be able to file, even if the driver was clearly at fault. If you suspect any of the below were true at the time of the accident or could possibly have been true, you should definitely contact an attorney after your police report: 1) The driver was speeding. 2) The driver ran a stop sign or red traffic light. 3) You were in the break down lane, and the driver did not move over or slow down. 4) You were entering or exiting your vehicle, and the driver did not give you enough room to do so. 5) The driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Because NY is a comparative negligence state, you could also be held partially liable for the accident. It’s best to hire an attorney to help you navigate those waters.
