The most common hazards at a construction site deals with injuries or accidents that might result from working at elevated heights – and so New York State designed a very strict and heavy burden on general contractors or property owners to protect construction workers from elevation-related risks, so that is why construction workers who work on scaffolds, or roofs, or on top of ladders -they are protected by the law.

They must be protected – so that might be, uh, maybe they need to wear a safety harness; maybe they need a scaffold that offers maximum protection; maybe that means fixing a ladder or a scaffold into the ground so that it doesn’t shake or move – and so that’s really where the law focuses.

We must, in New York State, provide construction workers the utmost protection from falling objects or from falling from their place of work to another level.
